History

The Winstead Inn and Beach Resort have been owned and maintained by innkeepers David Plunkett and Gregg Winston for the last 20 years.

The Beach House was previously known as the Melrose Inn. Enjoy these pictures and descriptions from the 1950s.

On Nantucket Sound down Cape Cod way.
The Melrose Inn's the place to stay.
Just a few minutes stroll -- our own private beach.
Or walk to the village, there's something for each!
Rolling green lawns, roses everywhere...
And cottages, or Beach House --you'll like it there.
The atmosphere's friendly, the welcome's sincere;
So come visit with us, year after year.

For those who like their ocean
Waves within easy reach,
There are spacious rooms in knotty pine
In our house right on our beach.

In this quaint and lovely setting
You'll find homemade rolls and cakes
Doughnuts, muffins and jellies
Seafood, and great big steaks!

There's real experience in eating
Waiting here for you;
So much, so good, such choice

It's like a wish come true!

At the rear of the Inn --
a beautiful heated pool for your pleasure you'll find!
To relac your body. To ease your mind.

The water's in the 70's, nicest beach around;
So relax and get tanned where sand and sun meet Sound.
